Trauma is a complicated injury, and treating it is equally complex.
In the Aerial Yoga Therapeutics Education, practitioners explore the neurobiological understanding of trauma and how the nervous system adapts a person’s response to trauma to help with survival. Practitioners learn how somatic interventions like the aerial hammock can work across multiple contexts supporting children, young people and adults.
The Mental Health Module in our Aerial Yoga Therapeutics program considers the implications for framing trauma informed practice as well as providing specific and practical strategies for facilitators to assist in promoting recovery for those who have experienced trauma.
In our Children’s Module, we gain an insight into the vulnerability of the developing brain and which helps practitioners reflect on the significant impact trauma has on the developing brain which may lead to difficulties in emotional regulation, adapting their behaviour and being attuned to social exchanges. This can lead to a fundamental challenges for children to experience safety and engage in relational exchanges that support them. Integrating experiences of protection and support with therapeutic aerial yoga interventions can provide traumatised children with safety, predictability and the platform for changing their developmental trajectory.
