Being a teacher of the therapeutic Aerial Hammock applications is a unique experience! It gives you the ability to service all populations, whatever age, stage and capacity. I work with 4yr olds to 94yr olds in the aerial hammock! I love that in the Aerial Hammock I have been able to find something diversely therapeutic for all people. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career! I encourage all those interested in deeply assisting a wide scope of clients to consider this step to become an Aerial Yoga Teacher and fly higher!
As a teacher, you never know where the ripple you create will end!
I truly believe it is a privilege to be a teacher. Sharing education is all about supporting someone to reach their potential. Understanding how to support different learning styles and remain within an individual’s optimal learning ratio of challenge to skill level is very important. Experience may be the best teacher for developing and fine-tuning our coaching skills, however, these ‘SIMPLE’ tips can help:
Set Expectations – explain what the expectations are and help define courageous goals
Invite commitment – explain the benefits they will reap from their commitment
Measure Progress – Demonstrating performance progress is very motivating for your client
Provide Feedback – When we can give real-time feedback, with an opportunity for adjustment or change, we can help an individual become more self-aware.
Link to Consequences – educate on the loss of benefits if behaviour does not align with goals
Evaluate effectiveness – Evaluate results with goals and celebrate successes and learn from challenges.
We are more likely to succeed when someone holds us accountable and does not let excuses take over! Accountability is the glue that sticks commitment to results! Never underestimate your effect as a teacher in this way, you are like the rock dropped into a pond, you may never see how many ripples you have created, but they are far-reaching.
